In the rank of Brigadier, he has also been Deputy Director General (Design) in the Engineer-in-Chief Branch at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), New Delhi and Assistant Command Chief Engineer in a Command Headquarters. In addition to all mandatory courses of the Indian Army, he was also selected for and successfully completed the prestigious Group Testing Officers Course (at DIPR and Bhopal), Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the Higher Air Command Course at the College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad. He holds the degree of Master of Technology (Civil) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he was awarded the prestigious Dogra Medal and the NBCC Award for Excellence. He was also awarded the Master of Philosophy (Defence and Strategic Studies) from the Osmania University.

In his last appointment in service, he was posted as Directing Staff, Higher Command Wing at the Army War College, which trains select officers of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force, for staff and command at the operational and strategic levels. He was also responsible for conduct of the Master of Philosophy Programme for these officers in consultation with the Panjab University and has also been a Guide for several candidates. The officer is a recipient of The Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card, The Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Commendation Card.
