BIO DATA: COLONEL HS CHAUHAN (RETIRED)
Colonel HS Chauhan is an alumni of the National Defence Academy fiftieth course and Indian Military Academy sixtieth course, who was commissioned into 24 Med Regt which is one of the oldest and famous Artillery regiment. He is a second generation army officer who hails from Patiala.
During his career the officer has done various courses of instruction and served in varying terrains and in various command and staff appointments.
The officer has commanded a Grad (P) Increment Battery independently in an Artillery Brigade as a Major and later went on to command 194 Field Regiment. The officer served almost three years as part of “Operation Pawan” in Sri Lanka. He has also been part of a training team involved in training the Bhutan army.
The officer has vast experience as an assessor in the Services Selection Board for almost nine and a half years. He was a Group Testing Officer at 17 SSB, Bangalore between the years 1994 to 1999 and then again as a Senior Group Testing Officer in 34 SSB, Allahabad between the years 2004 to 2009. He has the distinction of being instructor to eleven trainee Group Testing Officers during his tenure. The officer also has the distinction of assessing almost 6000 candidates in his tenure as an assessor.
The officer was absorbed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Armed Forces Institute a Punjab Govt venture to train the youth of Punjab for the National Defence Academy. He served with this institute for three years and was the main pillar to provide success to the institute. The success statistics reflect the immense hard work and dedication put in by him which are placed on record:
· 2012-13 - 10 Cadets cleared SSB (Eventually seven joined NDA)
· 2013-14 - 22 Cadets cleared and joined NDA
· 2014-15 - 24 Cadets cleared and joined NDA
